A week away for me and Martin here holding down the fort.

He was busy as he covered Besthorpe on the Saturday and part of the Thetford soapbox race and also the NSJMCC round 2. What I saw from the photos what does a few weeks make between rounds 1&2 with freezing winds, snow at round 1 and sunny, dust at round 2.

I have to apologize as Martin missed one class “The Schoolboys” as he had to pick up his daughter up. I’m sorry for that but we will get you at the next round.

Martin even sent me the memory card so I could put photos up so you didn’t have to wait a week. Thanks for doing that Martin.

While I was in North Yorkshire at Middleham which was the home of Richard III and is also known as the Newmarket of the North. There are 9 racing yards in the town and another 6 just outside, so the horses have to come through the town to get to the gallops on the moor.

The Derby winner of 1945 was Dante who was trained in Middleham and he was the 1st Derby winner to be trained in the North. Horses from Middleham have also won the Grand National, Guineas and St Ledger.

There are horses from Middleham running in the 1000 and 2000 Guineas this weekend at Newmarket.

We will be at Blaxhall this weekend.
